Big ups to Melbourne studio, Round. Their work is a perfect example of existential minimalism – with just enough of a twist to keep it interesting.

Some beautiful typography in amongst the narcotic swirls. The most impressive thing about Si’s body of work is that he draws everything by hand.

Canon Australia launched their “Advanced Simplicity” brand positioning in 2003 with Australia’s then largest advertising campaign, worth $20M. Over the years Leo Burnett has done a great job with the print campaign, usually just showing the product as a metaphor on a white grey background. The television campaigns were also unique, one of the more memorable TVCs was Flip book, shot by Revolver Films.

Philips has been championing simplicity since 2004 with a new direction in their brand, products and business practices. Quoting Philips, “We are committed to delivering ‘sense and simplicity‘ in everything we make and do.” Here’s a more detailed explanation why. Nintendo’s Wii and Apple’s iPod are also great examples of a simplified brand/product relationship.
